Platforms Without Borders: The Podcast

The project was born in May 2025 out of the workshop “Platforms without Borders: Analysing the Global Digital Economy”, which brought together researchers, managers and developers of platforms centred on the Global South. "PWB: The Podcast " sets out to give visibility to platforms that offer fairer ways of organizing work, respectful of people and communities, and to deepen the discussion around them.

University researchers, technology co-ops and community media organizations decided together to build the identity of Platforms Without Borders: The Podcast and take on its production. A set of interviews digging into the experiences and working methods that show the long track record and the power of platforms built to serve people and communities. Every edition holds to these values: - The Global South in the house: the people and projects taking part come from and work for the great majorities of the South. - Stories that hit hard: real experiences of work and innovation in the service of people. - In their own language: we always try to have each participant speak in their mother tongue, with translations so that nobody is left out. - Collective strength: we work side by side with co-ops and civil society organizations, because we believe that the way forward, technology and work must always be built collectively. - A gender perspective: we look after diversity among those who take part. What is it for? It provides educational and research material on topics that need to circulate (open, beautiful, useful). It is a tool for shaping public policy. It promotes fairer business models. It is a real bridge between academia, social organizations and decision makers.

A platform ( platformswithoutborders.org ) with an identity of its own, content co-management tools, accessible and multilingual. The site also features a map of the participating countries, a section in each episode with links for digging deeper into the topic, and a search engine.
