Virtual Queue

Software development

What was this project about?

Launching high-demand products raises a critical infrastructure challenge across very different industries: ticketing companies, football clubs, airlines or retail platforms in the opening minutes of a Hot Sale. When thousands of users try to transact at once, traffic grows exponentially within milliseconds, overloading the site or taking it down. Easing the problem by over-provisioning servers is expensive and inefficient, since it means paying for resources that later sit idle or come at a steep price. The technical challenge was to build an intermediate software layer able to decouple and order massive traffic before it hits the client's site, guaranteeing absolute stability and high availability under any level of network stress.

We proposed a virtual queue that acts as an intelligent shield between the public and our clients' platforms. When high-traffic sales create demand peaks, Virtual Queue organizes the flow of users toward the client's site and releases it at a controlled pace. The result is total stability, with the risk of outages and overloads removed, and maximum conversion: every user who joins the queue makes it to checkout, turning massive traffic into real sales.

A high-concurrency product that makes it very simple to set up a virtual queue on a client's site so they can handle large volumes of traffic without extra investment in infrastructure. The system protects sites from outages and database overload during traffic peaks, enabling sales that go well beyond the usual capacity of the client's website.
